What it does
Converts an insulin infusion order into a pump rate in mL/hr. Rate math only, no sliding scale.
The formulas
concentration = units in bag ÷ mL; rate mL/hr = ordered units/hr ÷ concentration.
Worked example
100 units in 100 mL is 1 unit/mL. An order of 5 units/hr: 5 ÷ 1 = 5 mL/hr.
Good to know
Titration by blood glucose follows your facility’s protocol, which this tool does not replace.
Study calculations only, not dosing recommendations. Real medication orders and administration require the appropriate clinical checks and facility protocol.
