What it does
Turns a tube feeding rate into daily volume, calories, protein and free water from the formula.
The formulas
volume mL = rate mL/hr × hours; calories = volume × kcal/mL; protein g = (volume ÷ 1000) × g per L; formula water mL = volume × water percentage ÷ 100.
Worked example
60 mL/hr for 24 hours = 1440 mL. At 1.5 kcal/mL that is 2160 kcal; at 68 g/L protein, 97.9 g; and at 76% water, approximately 1094 mL of formula water. These are generic study inputs, not a named product’s composition.
Good to know
Flushes add free water on top of what the formula provides.
Study calculations only, not dosing recommendations. Real medication orders and administration require the appropriate clinical checks and facility protocol.
